Inspiration

You didn’t come this far to stop

Michelle's recent works draw inspiration from the rich colours and textures of the natural world, as well as her deep affection for the Lake District, Cumbria, UK where she lived for many years.

Michelle creates functional pottery that transcends mere utility.

Her unique glazes are intended to evoke feelings of landscape paintings, capturing the essence of the vistas etched in her memory from her walks over Loughrigg in Ambleside, to the views looking down to Grasmere village.

The subtle markings she leaves in clay while making and glazing pay homage to the iconic stone walls that crisscross the Cumbrian hills and the cattle that graze on the land.

Her choice of glazing materials intend to impart a weathered effect, a deliberate effort to evoke the ever-changing moods of nature.
